Privacy Policy

Await shows live subway departures for stations near you. It is built so that there is nothing to collect.
What Await does not do
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking SDKs. The app contains no tracking or advertising code.
- No data collection. Await does not collect, store, or transmit personal information. Nothing about you is sent to us, because there is no server of ours to send it to.
Location
If you allow it, Await reads your location only while the app is open, and only to work out which subway stations are within walking distance. That calculation happens on your phone. Your location is never stored, never logged, and never transmitted anywhere.
Location is optional. Decline it and the app works the same way from a station you choose by name. That choice is saved only on your device, and you can change it at any time.
Network requests
Await fetches the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's public GTFS-Realtime feeds directly from the MTA to build the departure board. Those requests carry no identifying information beyond what any request to a public website carries, and they contain nothing about you or where you are. The MTA's handling of them is governed by the MTA's own privacy policy.
The app also checks for its own software updates through Expo's update service, which is what lets a fix reach you without waiting on an App Store release. That check reports the app's version, not you.
The tip jar
Settings offers three optional tips. They are exactly that — a tip unlocks nothing, changes nothing about the app, and skipping it costs you no feature.
The payment is handled entirely by the App Store. Await asks the store what the three tips cost so it can print the right price on the button, and hands the store the tip you tapped. It never sees your name, your email, or any part of your payment details, and it keeps no record — not on a server, because there isn't one, and not on your phone — that you tipped. What you paid is between you and Apple, under Apple's privacy policy.
Data stored on your device
Your settings — walking radius, departures per line, appearance, and a station you have pinned — are stored on your phone alone. Deleting the app deletes them.
Children
Await is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date above.
